Tonight from 7pm a Winter Warmer special People’s Kitchen.
We will be serving delicious food, all for whatever price you can afford, from 7pm at the Red and Black Umbrella. The food will be vegan friendly. People’s Kitchens are a great place to socialise and meet new people.
So come and support the return of the People’s Kitchen and help turn it into a regular event again.
Also tonight, a chance to talk about Claimant Solidarity Cardiff, with the organiser of the Tea Tent.
Folk Art/Graffiti, Seedswap, Edible Gardening, Vegan BBQ, Music+ more! This Sunday 11th May
Folk Art and Gardening day at the Red and Black Umbrella- The Revolution is Growing!
This Sunday we will happily be opening our doors to the community as we host an autonomous folk arts, bbq, music and fun day on sunday. Bring paint ya’ll!
From 11am onwards we will be sharing music, vegan food, seeds and art.
We ask and encourage those who use the space to bring vegan food, seeds to swap, paints to decorate our newly white-washed social centre walls and gardening supplies that we can use for the edible garden that we hope to start cultivating this year.
We have a nice clear space ready for Sunday, thanks to those who attended our productive (work) day yesterday. It’s time for the space to get a new face on!
Ideas for the outside of the building greatly appreciated.

The Red and Black Umbrella Collective Cordially Invite you to our Two Year Anniversary Birthday Shenanigans….
If you’re organised enough to carry ’round a diary (I am definitely not) penciling in the
1st AND 2nd of November is highly advisable as it will see our first festival!
A two day event ending on the 2nd November to celebrate 2 YEARS of the occupied building in Cardiff. Easy enough to remember, right?
Beginning as a vague plan to host an Anarcho-Folk festival in Cardiff; the event has now evolved into a two day celebration of the ‘Brolly.
The space it has provided us has been invaluable to many, so we invite anyone and everybody who has shared the space with us to come, in particular any guests we have had to stay, musicians who’ve played and individuals who’ve led any lessons or workshops. Please come and celebrate with us!
This is an open event and will be donation upon entry to pay the acts who are travelling. Any excess money donated to us will go towards Cardiff squat funds and to Freedom Press Bookshop (who are still raising money to repair their shop and replace up to 700 books lost after fascists petrol-bombed their shop earlier this year).
Nobody will be refused entry if they cannot pay.
We will be releasing more information over the next two weeks to keep you all in suspense, just know that you will need your best dancing boots and both headliners will be supported by amazing local acts and musicians.
If you would like to play at the festival, run a stall or workshop on either of the days get in touch.
Also, any help with cooking or supplying skipped/vegan food for the festival would be much appreciated as we will have many mouths to feed!
Doors TBA
Drink tolerated after 7pm, Drunkenness not.
No drugs, no thugs!

Vegan Pot Luck & Open Mic Night
This Wednesday 20th Feb. @ 7pm the social centre will be open for a vegan pot luck dinner night. Bring a dish to share if you can, but don’t worry if you can’t, everyone is free to come and eat. Dinner will be followed/accompanied by music and other wonders in the form of an open mic. Bring along your instrument/voice/talent/party trick to share with everyone. There will be some instruments available if you are not able to bring your own, if you play a string instrument you’ll probably find one at the Red and Black.
