The Feminists + Rita Lynch + Breach of the Peace

10442944_763609750342730_4980126150978699449_nA fundraiser gig for the Red and Black Umbrella Social Centre, featuring ‘The Feminists‘ all the way from Germany, ‘Rita Lynch‘ from Bristol and the second ever gig of Red and Black Umbrella resident band ‘Breach of the Peace‘.

A voluntary donation will be asked at the door for vital repairs and equipment needed to make the Social Centre better. We could buy more LED lights, a better battery, fix various holes in the walls, and generally do loads of things to make parts of the building warmer and lighter. So come on down xxx

Occupy Democracy! Info-talk and discussion – Wed 6pm

Parliament Square in London is currently occupied by activists from the Occupy movement.

The Red and Black Umbrella is hosting an event dedicated to discussion issues around the action and the movement.

This is at 6pm on Wednesday 22nd October.

Come along to hear from someone who was there in London and to discuss the way forward for the Occupy movement, here and around the world.

All contributions welcome but no-one is expected to speak.

Two great workshops returning!

We’re happy to announce the return of two great RBU workshops:

The free bike workshop (formerly Black Spokes) and the Circus skill-share are back!

We’re hoping to make these both regular events again but it depends if there is enough interest to make it happen, so please turn up to support these events if you can!

All welcome (except cops and journos) to our next General Meeting – Tuesday 1st July.

General meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month and is where decisions about the social centre are made.

Bring ideas for events etc or come to find out more about what we do!
