Q. How many squatters does it take to change a lightbulb? A. It doesn’t matter, we still don’t have leccy… Let’s have a benefit gig!

Shwmae!
I mentioned in the last post of new events, and this will be our first. On Sunday December 16th, the Red and Black Umbrella will be hosting another benefit gig, however this one will be a benefit for the space.
As we all know, the RBU was forced off grid a few months ago when we were cut off from the mains. We’ve looked into it and as far as we know we do not exist on grid anymore, it would cost obscene amounts of money to get us re-connected.
The nights are getting WAY longer and darker (and colder) we’ve used enough candles to plug the hole in the ozone layer and the fire risk is making us antsy…
So we’ve made the decision to start saving up to buy car batteries and solar panels and THIS is where the acoustic benefit gig comes into play…

We’ll be having a well good acoustic gig with stalls and workshops, markets, bake sales, and possibly more. (If you’re interested in doing something on the day do contact one of us and ask)

Of course, a benefit gig wouldn’t be a gig without the acts, so far we’ve got an amazing line up with more TBA.

So far we welcome the lovely Quemlins to play, a relatively new duo, be sure to keep an eye out for them in the future.
Taffy Twp will be around with his bit of Acoustic Anarchist Punk and Poetry, not to be missed!
Efa Supertramp will once again be gracing our stage with her beautiful bilingual Wenglish tunes,
Splendigedig!
Fresh from the kicking back in Austerity tour the last two performers are a proper good laugh-
Gail Something-Else, mistress of the Something-Else touring tea tent will be singing, can’t wait!
Last but not in any way least, local celeb-hero-leg-end COSMO will be having something to say!

Be sure not to miss it, yeah? It’s gonna be bangin’!

Hopefully when we get the leccy back, we can start using the space PROPERLY again, get things going with more energy than before, more people involved and get every benefit we can out of the space.

It’s an early gig, so doors at 4.30pm, acts start at 5.
byob, Drink tolerated, drunkenness not – you know the drill by now!
Vegan food and non-alcoholic drink available,

Keep an eye out for more acts and workshops TBA.

P.s, We really really appreciate everyone helping out and the support from people, to those who attended the meeting and to the acts who’ll be playing at the gig- thank you!
